A NOTE ABOUT THE CABBAGE SCHOOL

The Cabbage School sits in a beautiful cove about 30 minutes west of Asheville. There is no cell phone reception and no internet at the school. Please prepare to be without your devices while at the school, knowing that you may have a chance to travel to town on occasion.

Accommodations are simple. Shared rooms will be furnished with bedding and storage for personal items. Bathrooms are shared. All linens, bedding, and towels are provided.

Food is communally supplied: All students are expected to bring enough food to feed one person for the duration of the class. We suggest bringing larger quantities of a few things, so class participants can enjoy communal dinners together. The school contributes staples, such as rice, condiments, salt, oil, and beans. We have a full kitchen available for students to use.

As a part of the Cabbage School experience, and in an effort to integrate the student community with our village life, all students and instructors participate in a “power half-hour” every morning at 8 am to get the day going and give the school building and property some love and attention. Power half-hour projects can include cleaning the house, gardening, and setting up for the day’s classes.
